COHABITATION

In Daragaon, ‘cohabitation’ is a way in which multiple species of life share one steep piece of land. The farm under T.P. Road, belongs to an absent owner, yet is looked after by the caretaker. The harvest feeds surrounding houses. The site also serves for intersecting circulations of people of different occupations: residents, students, passerbys, and grass carriers. Various flora: planted crops and wild vegetation, and fauna: pigs chickens, cows, share the same slope with weather and seasons.

OVERVIEW

The house belongs to the farm’s caretaker, while the owner lives nearby. Earlier, the surrounding terraces were used for cultivation. The caretaker grows seasonal crops, tends beehive boxes, and raises three pigs over a period of time for the market. Each day begins with a cup of chai on the veranda, followed by farm work. Vegetable scrap is fed to the pigs, connecting daily life, farming, and animal care within the landscape.
