orthography

As we were exploring form and the different ways space can be read, drawn, and experienced, we came across orthography as a tool to observe and understand space. We began by drafting simple objects such as a pencil stand, a cart, and several others, working through their cuts, plans, sections, and elevations. Through this exercise, we learned the importance of line weight, thickness, and intensity in order to communicate and read space effectively.

Later, we were divided into groups, and each group was assigned a well-known house designed by an architectural firm. We drafted its plans and elevations and then constructed a model based on those drawings, which helped us understand scale and the translation from two-dimensional drawings into three-dimensional form
